Important information – OB-20 & Annex 79 to be held online
The IEA Secretariat have given notice that all face-to-face meetings before June are to be changed to an online format, due to the perceived risks of coronavirus. The University of Southampton plan to host the virtual events on the dates and times currently scheduled, and hope to allow these to take place no differently than if they were in-person (with plenaries, break-out sessions, etc.).

The project REScoop Plus has enabled a better understanding of how consumers change their energy consumption behaviour when they join a renewable energy cooperative, a so-called REScoop. A new online toolbox features coaching tools for individuals to reduce their personal consumption and district heating tools to provide collective heat efficiently. The toolbox is free to use for all interested renewable energy cooperatives.

While energy efficiency via retrofitting old buildings and giving more control to citizens over their energy demand are part of the Cologne project, just as they are in many other European cities, the CO2 emissions produced by urban traffic are also a major headache.
Cologne has identified four possible solutions that, when implemented, should reduce traffic emissions by a targeted 60%:

Less than 2% of properties sold in Ireland between January 2017 and October 2018 were A rated – the highest energy efficient rating for homes – despite many technologies available to upgrade homes. And just 11% of dishwashers and 14% of fridges sold in 2018 in Spain were of the highest A+++ energy rating for appliances. The findings come from a project called CONSEED, which investigates what encourages people to buy energy efficient appliances, houses and cars.
