The HARP project has launched a survey to understand what motivates customers to switch to a more efficient heating system: is it the prospect of saving money? reducing CO2 emissions? an improved indoor air quality?
Knowing this will help us develop an online application that will motivate as many individuals as possible to retrofit their heating systems, promoting the benefits and advantages that matter most.

Achieving climate neutrality by 2050 requires decarbonising the whole economy, including the energy-hungry heating sector, says Finland’s Riku Huttunen. And that will involve cooperation at all levels of government, including local and EU authorities, he argues.
Heating represents almost half (40%) of the EU’s total energy consumption. As such, it is also responsible for a large share of greenhouse gas emissions. Yet, politicians seem reluctant to confront the issue head-on.

This is the first block of housing certified in Spain built in 2017 under the Passivhaus standard, and therefore has a demand for heating below 15kWh / m2a, and a heating load of 10W / m2.
This implies that a floor of 75m2 will have a heating load of only 750W, so with a hair dryer there would be enough to heat two houses.

METIS is a mathematical model providing analysis of the European energy system. It simulates the operation of energy systems and markets on an hourly basis over a year, while factoring in uncertainties like weather variations. In order to determine the potential contribution of district heating networks to the reduction of energy demand and emissions, the district heat dimension is added to the METIS model.
