Construction characteristics    Short terraced blocks of between 3 and 5 houses with solid walled construction; all with three bedrooms on two floor levels and with approximately 72m2 total floor area. Roofs are sloping and of timber structure with a ceramic tile or slate finish. There are solid concrete floors. Window frames are uPVC and most are double glazed with a 16mm air gap and aluminium spacer bar.HVAC system

Since the oil crisis of the seventies, the interest given to buildings physics, indoor climate and energy use has strongly increased. The building envelope and HVAC systems in modern buildings are often completely different from those typically found in buildings of the sixties and seventies. In general, we often consider the quality of today’s buildings substantially higher. To what extent is this impression of improved quality fact or fiction? Is it valid for all technologies and is there a substantial improvement in quality of the indoor climate?
