Intervention in a single-family home situated in Granada in order to improve the efficiency in water consumption. To this end, the innovative water saving device NESS® has been implemented in the plumbing installations. This device avoids waste of cold water down the drain while we wait for water to be hot.
With this technology consumption of cold wate has been reduced up to 40%, since the house has more than 4 inhabitants.
The system consists of three types of modules: pump module, bypass module and pushbutton module. Only one module of each type is needed for what is called basic kit, to begin installing NESS in each home or business. As is done by default in this type of intervention, a pump module has been installed with flexible threaded connections just before the heater and anchored in the wall face by screws. The existing boiler housing is butane gas type, however, the system is compatible with any heaters (electric batteries, solar panels, biomass, gas ..).
The bypass module, as is done by default, is installed on the last point of branch water consumption, thus allowing to extend the benefits of the system to all points of intermediate consumption. As the pump module, it is installed with flexible threaded connections and has been anchored to the wall, in this case having hidden under the sink running.
Due to the modularity of the system, in case you want to extend the system to other distribution branch plumbing like another top floor it could be extended by installing only another Bypass + button kit. However, in this case, they have only been required to install a basic system kit (pump + bypass + button).
Between the two types of possible installations of the device (recessed or surface) it has been chosen to install the device in the surface by consumer choice, allowing faster and cost effective installation. Thus it has been possible to install the system in just 90 minutes.
With a total budget of 389.90 (equipment) plus installation cost, it has been possible to have instant hot water without wasting waiting. Without works or complex interventions in an economic and efficient way. Finally, the investment made in the implementation of the system will be returned in the form of saving water on bills, in this case, in a payback period of about 3-4 years. Moreover, it has not only increased the quality of life of the inhabitants of the housing, if not, there will also be contributed to help the environment, making efficient use of natural resources.
