It is clear that we need to build a more sustainable world. Groups of people from all different areas are working towards this goal. However, so often we work in silos, trying to leverage our specific expertise only. The problem is that climate change is complex. The challenges we face and transformation we need impact a huge variety of actors, topics and fields in an interrelated way. These are not separated by expertise or field, so our approach to overcoming climate-related challenges can’t be siloed either.

A fresh approach to social housing: Lacaton & Vassal architects, Frédéric Druot Architecture and Christophe Hutin Architecture have won the 2019 Mies van der Rohe Award for their transformation of 530 apartments in the Grand Parc Bordeaux project.

The GEOENVI project aims at answering environmental concerns in terms of both impacts and risks, by first setting an adapted methodology for assessing environment impacts to the project developers, and by assessing the environmental impacts and risks of geothermal projects operational or in development in Europe. The project will propose recommendations on harmonised European environmental regulations to the decision-makers and elaborate simplified LCA models to assess environmental impacts.

VISTA is located in the Luciline-Rives de Seine eco-district, the only French project on the prestigious European label Future Cities dedicated to urban planning programs designed to better prevent and combat the effects of climate change. This commercial and housing complex completes the built front along the Seine, in a developing area. This new office built in 2017 consists in the realization of 4,600 m² of offices for the Matmut Group and 45 social housing units.

This Deliverable has been prepared under Work Package 2 (Formulating recommendations on national energy policy priorities for 2050 and fostering multi – level cooperation and governance).
