An in-depth case study Report of four frontrunner projects.   The iBRoad EU-funded project works on eliminating the multiple barriers building owners face when planning a renovation,  by developing an Individual Building Renovation Roadmap for single-family houses by providing a customised renovation plan over a long-term period (10-20 years).

Are you planning to renovate a building? Would you like to combine energy efficiency improvements with architectural additions? The EU-funded ABRACADABRA project has developed 3 decision support tools for this purpose which you can test for free. Case study buildings should either have planned energy renovations or have already undergone renovations. Tools and analytical methods developed by the project team will be applied to each case study building, providing valuable technical, financial and regulatory outcomes to aid the decision-making process.

COP24 Vision One of the most important tasks of the 24th Session of the of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24) will be to work out and adopt a package of decisions ensuring the full implementation of the Paris Agreement, in accordance with the decisions adopted in Paris (COP21) and in Marrakesh (CMA1.1). Moreover, COP24 will include the so-called Facilitative Dialogue intended to support the implementation of national commitments.

The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) introduced Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) with the aim to create more transparency about the energy performance of individual buildings. To date, the implementation of this instrument varies significantly across Europe in terms of scope, information, comparability and user-friendliness, limiting its acceptance by users as well as its market penetration.

The supply of heat through district energy systems is a common technology used by local municipalities across Europe, but far from all are efficient and many of the local actors’ struggle with the challenge of transforming these systems into efficient systems. Polish district heating needs modernisation, important to improve air quality and reach the European climate goals.

The UHI Project is implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The main target of this transnational project is the development of mitigation, risk prevention and management strategies to counteract the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon. Mitigation strategies consist in the adoption of urban and land planning models that prevent the establishment of UHI. On the other hand, adaptation strategies aim at reducing the impact of UHI related phenomena, such as summer bioclimatic discomfort.

Decision Support System (DSS) is a software developed within the context of the UHI (Urban Heat Island) project, implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It is a simplified database management tool that can be used by an end user interested in the implementation of mitigation measures for counteracting the urban heat island phenomenon.
