The offering to business – CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme launched today aimed at saving public and private sector organisations around £1billion per year by 2020 through cost effective energy efficiency measures that are not yet being taken up. The aim of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is to help change behaviour and will require large public and private sector organisations like supermarkets, hotels, hospitals, local authorities and central government departments, to improve their energy efficiency.

The Committee's report is a stocktake of performance in tackling fuel poverty and sets out areas of concern which the Committee want to see addressed in the new Parliament.  Paddy Tipping MP, Acting Chair of the Committee, said "one of the reasons tackling fuel poverty is so difficult, is that the Government does not have a clear idea about who the fuel poor are.  Because it does not have that information, it has to use age and receipt of benefits as proxies for fuel poverty, and that means that some people who are fuel poor do not get help, while others who are not in fuel poverty...

A total of 100 households were challenged to do what they could to reduce their environmental footprint. They were selected to be nationally representative - including demographics, social groups and house types. Each household received an initial environmental audit from a member of the project team and an attitudinal survey to understand their views on environmental matters. They were also given a project pack of information and ‘green’ equipment, along with £500 to spend in support of their environmental improvements.
