General on energy efficiency in buildings

Organised by European Commission's Directorate General for Energy, the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, the European Institutions, major energy actors and private companies, the EUSEW is the key annual event of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign and the reference point for sustainable energy issues in Europe. So far over 100 events are being organised in Brussels and all over Europe, and many more will come. Take a week to change tomorrow: come to the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2010 and you will enter the European network of best energy solutions.

The energy efficiency goal of Standard 189.1 is to provide significant energy reduction over that in ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2007. It offers a broader scope than Standard 90.1 and is intended to provide minimum requirements for the siting, design and construction of high performance, green buildings. The aim is not just energy efficiency but a balance of environmental responsibility, resource efficiency, occupant comfort and well being and community sensitivity, all while supporting the goal of sustainable development.

The winning project will be selected by a jury with representatives from Energy Agencies, the industry and Cities. Besides having a chance to win the Local Energy Action Award, submitted Case Studies have the opportunity to be: - Highlighted and promoted on the ManagEnergy website - Included in a ManagEnergy Good Practice leaflet to be widely distributed - Presented and discussed at various ManagEnergy events throughout Europe The Awards competition opens on 26 January 2010. The Deadline for submission of your case study is 26 February 2010.

The Clean Energy Fund is investing nearly $1 billion in technology development and demonstration. Total investments under the Clean Energy Fund for large and small demonstration projects are benefiting Canada's economy by leveraging nearly $3.5 billion in further investments by industry and other levels of government.
