The environmental concept of NBS has recently been identified by the E.U. as a strategic frame to help the development of sustainable cities.
Nature4Cities is one of the two research program selected and funded by the European Union in order to build a common ground for “NBS & Re-Naturing Cities”, through the H2020 Research and Innovation Programme.

SSPCR 2019 aims to answer the question on how can we maximize the impact of academic research, the scaling-up and replicability opportunities of pilot projects, and the added value of local bottom-up initiatives, in relation to complex challenges posed by the smart city/region approach?
Therefore, building projects that wish to put their work in a larger (urban or regional scale) will find in this conference the right audience.

The event was created in 2003 when the European Committee of the Regions invited Brussels-based local and regional representations to the European Union to open their doors to visitors simultaneously.
One year later the European Commission's DG for Regional Policy also joined the adventure.
Developing from the initial concept, the event has become a European networking platform for experts in regional and local development.

The ReUseHeat report "Accessible Urban Waste Heat"
shows a significant heat recovery potential from unconventional excess heat sources. Approximately 1.2 EJ (or 340 TWh) per year are possible to recover from data centres, metro stations, service sector buildings, and waste water treatment plants. This corresponds to more than 10 percent of the EU's total energy demand for heat and hot water, which is approximately 10.7 EJ (or 2,980 TWh).

On 21 March, the Smart City of Dresden has been awarded by the EU for its sustainable mobility plan
Europe is at the forefront of fighting CO2 emissions. Every year the Union and its agencies organise numerous initiatives to raise the attention on the problem and stimulate national and local governments, private and public companies and citizens to opt for sustainable mobility.
