Within the eCentral project, which aims to enhance the energy efficiency of public buildings by supporting public authorities to define efficient renovation measures and financial instruments, a survey on these topics has been launced in order to understand the level of knowledge of these instruments from public administrations (e.g. owners) and from practitioners.

October will see the start of the first LEED Lab in Spain, the leading course on sustainable construction developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) in accordance with LEED certification requirements.   The course’s first edition in Spain is organised by everis Group, which was officially approved by the USGBC to offer this programme with support from the Green Building Factory.

The report, drafted by members of the parliamentary Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, aims to help achieve a climate-neutral building stock by 2050. The call for buildings renovation and rooftop solar energy expansion supports the Renovation Wave initiative, which the European Commission is due to present on October 14.

ince September 2017, consumer organizations in 6 European countries have guided consumers through all the stages leading to the purchase of domestic renewable and efficient energy technologies. To facilitate the consumer journey, the project launched group purchases, which lowered the costs of the equipment and guaranteed a fair deal for consumers.

Buildings do not consume energy, people do. Managed by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (EASME), these projects have helped consumers understand their energy use at their homes or their work places, and have motivated them to engage in energy-saving behaviour. It is possible to change the way energy is perceived and used by consumers with low-cost and cost-effective ICT solutions, and basic personal choices can translate in significant energy and economic savings.

For one last time, under the Energy challenge of the Horizon 2020 programme, proposers were invited to submit their ideas to accelerate the market-uptake of energy efficiency solutions across Europe.    10 topics with a total budget of €64m were open in the areas of buildings, innovative financing, consumers, services,  public authorities and policy support. An impressive number of proposals were received, amounting to 759M €.

Supporting designers in the early stages of designing Plus Energy Buildings is strategic to ensure load reduction while still considering the household practices and enhancing the indoor environmental quality. To achieve this target, it is necessary to make use of effective building energy modeling with a clear view of the simulation results, thus allowing effective communication between the design team and the involved disciplines/stakeholders.
