On 11th December Ursula von Der Leyen, recently elected president of the European Commission, presented the new European Climate plan called "Green Deal". Emblematically, this is one of the first acts of the new Commission and this stresses the importance of climate action for the new European government.

As part of its environmental efforts, Wiener Linien launched a unique pilot project: The first-time installation of special photovoltaic films, on the roof of the underground station in the Ottakring district. The power generated will be used on-site to operate lighting, escalators and elevators. The Government has launched a consultation on the introduction of a “Future Homes Standard” for England, to be operable from 2025. There are to be proposed interim measures applicable from 2020. The aim is to ensure that new build homes in England will be future-proofed, with low carbon heating and world-leading levels of energy efficiency.

EEPLIANT 3 stands for “Energy Efficiency compliant products” and it is a follow up of a series of older projects, EEPLIANT 1 and EEPLIANT 2, started in 2015. It focuses on the benefits of the energy efficiency regulation and on checking the level of compliance of energy products on the market. The innovative aspect of the project consists in dealing with both vertical and horizontal components of market surveillance of energy efficiency.

The HARP project has launched a survey to understand what motivates customers to switch to a more efficient heating system: is it the prospect of saving money? reducing CO2 emissions? an improved indoor air quality?   Knowing this will help us develop an online application that will motivate as many individuals as possible to retrofit their heating systems, promoting the benefits and advantages that matter most.

The most important is to ensure the smooth transition from the old label system to the new one.
