Concept and objectives:   mySMARTLife project aims at the development of an Urban Transformation Strategy to support cities in the definition of transition models, as a suitable path to reach high level of excellence in its development process, addressing the main city challenges and progressing to the smart people and smart economy concepts.

This is EFFECT4buildings magazine   EFFECT4buildings project is providing building owners and managers with a set of financial tools and instruments to support the implementation of more energy efficiency measures, developed, and improved in real cases.   The main target group is building managers in charge of public or privately owned building portfolio.

Multi service contracts is a method used for energy efficiency contracting to add other co-benefits such as lighting, indoor air quality, temperature, noise, esthetical values and well-being issues in the investments.   These co-benefits are included somehow in agreements (in 57% of the answers), but not in a systematical way.

An important goal of public policy to stimulate transition to a sustainable energy system is to improve energy efficiency –a target clearly set out in Sustainable Development Goal 7.   Indeed, improving energy efficiency is one of the most cost-effective options for meeting growing energy demand, ensuring more rational use of energy, securing economic well-being and improved quality of life, and contributing to a better environment and to energy security in most countries.

Concept:   Vulnerable communities are severely affected by natural disasters. A model for the estimation of the impact of disasters and for planning mitigation policies is essential.   The EU-funded MulHaRes project will develop a decision model to support multi-hazard resistance of residential buildings to floods and landslides provoked by heavy rainfalls.

The projects that will test-run smart city solutions for the 2nd edition of the “Smart Pamplona Lab” programme have been selected   This year the Pamplona City Council launched the 2nd edition of the 'Smart Pamplona Lab' programme, an initiative that is part of the EU-funded STARDUST project.

The COP26 climate summit hosted by the UK in November will include a focus on architecture and construction after its president Alok Sharma announced plans to include a ‘built environment day’   Sharma, who last week quit as business secretary to focus on his climate role full-time, revealed the decision in a recent letter to the World Green Building Council. In it, he said that ‘action to decarbonise the buildings and construction sector is critical to meeting our Paris Agreement goals’.

The Turkish city of Izmir has inaugurated an Ecological Corridor and a natural area that implements Nature Based Solutions   In early October this year, Izmir (Turkey), opened the Mavisehir Peynircioglu Stream Ecological Corridor, a green belt stretching over an area of 41,000 m2.
