Energy agencies have many important roles through which they can support sustainable energy investments: as facilitators, aggregators or project developers, and therefore are in a unique position to support energy investments in their regions and cities. The Passive House standard, as promoted by the Passive House Institute (PHI) achieves highly energy efficient buildings whose demand for heating and cooling energy can be reduced by as much as 90% compared to conventional builds. This is achieved using an envelope-first approach and considers the five principles of Passive House: airtightness, high-quality windows, climate-applicable insulation, avoidance of thermal bridges and sufficient ventilation.

The RE4 project has reached its end. The research project funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. The RE4 project was based on a collaboration of 13 partners from science and industry.   The main goal was reuse and recycle of CDW materials and structures in energy efficient pREfabricated elements for building refurbishment and construction.
