The Climate Chance Observatory released the 2020 Edition of its Global Sector-based Synthesis Report of Climate Action and organized, for this occasion, its week of #ClimateChanceTalks in December 2020 to exchange and cross points of view of different non-state actors around the trends and progress assessed for the last 3 years.

  Concept:   Construction and demolition waste (CDW) constitutes the largest volume of all solid wastes. As such, it poses not only an economic burden but also a threat to the environment.   Made up of a mix of materials generated during the construction and demolition of buildings or structures, the recycling of CDW remains a challenge.

Concept and objectives:   Reinforced concrete urban infrastructure poses significant, insufficiently addressed, environmental challenges due to impacts from cement, natural aggregate and steel reinforcement production.   This proposal focuses on integrating fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) with “green” concretes produced with waste and recycled materials.

This webinar will explore innovative business models of European one-stop-shops as a means of increasing renovation uptake in the residential sector, and decreasing carbon emissions related to buildings.   The building sector is responsible for more than one third of the European Union’s carbon emissions, yet only 1% of buildings undergo energy efficiency renovations per year, with the deep renovation rate being at a staggering 0.2%.

The makeover of 4RinEU demo case in the Netherlands was completed in July 2020. According to the latest estimates, energy demand will be reduced by 80%.   Mariënheuvel is a residential building for elderly people located in Soest and owned by the social housing agency Woonzorg Nederland.
