As businesses and investors having energy efficiency and energy demand reduction at the heart of our activities, we look forward to seeing Europe’s global climate leadership translated in green measures which will lead to a sustainable recovery through stimulus packages. We strongly believe that the Renovation Wave as part of the EU Green Deal is a great opportunity to promote a European based industry, with technologies and expertise able to serve the renovation demand locally.

It resets the Commission’s commitment to tackling climate and environmental-related challenges that is this generation’s defining task. The atmosphere is warming and the climate is changing with each passing year. One million of the eight million species on the planet are at risk of being lost. Forests and oceans are being polluted and destroyed.

The Green Deal was a big deal at the European Energy Efficiency Conference in Wels/Austria from 4 - 6 March 2020. The event was a great success with 400 experts from 50 countries taking part. The conference focused on and how to make the energy transition happen and achieve climate neutrality in Europe and globally.

The C4E Forum puts the Green Deal, and what it can mean for Central and Eastern Europe, center stage. The topic for the first high level plenary session is The Green Deal: How do we make it work for the CEE buildings? and we have invited Ministers from Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland and Romania as well as the European Commission to provide their views and discuss. Also, during the rest of the conference, the Green Deal will be featured in the discussions and presentations.

The review of EU´ fiscal rules, Stability and Growth Pact comes as multi-lateral effort to make the European economy more sustainable and to achieve the zero-emission goal by 2050. Part of this includes also a review of the state aid rules and a “green supporting factor” in the capital requirements for banks. A new taxonomy has also been adopted to better channel funds to sustainable goals.

On 11th December Ursula von Der Leyen, recently elected president of the European Commission, presented the new European Climate plan called "Green Deal". Emblematically, this is one of the first acts of the new Commission and this stresses the importance of climate action for the new European government.

The Summit is widely recognised as one of the most important energy events in Brussels.
