The successful story of the first EU funded CLEAR project (IEE 13-588) – enabling Consumers to Learn about, Engage with and Adopt Renewable energy technologies - continued from September 2017 with Clear 2.0. It actively guides consumers through all the stages leading to the purchase of domestic renewable and low-carbon energy technologies. It has the objective to enable consumers to become more aware, active players, to save money and to easily become “prosumers”.

European Union’s energy targets for 2030 include the transformation of the building stock to Nearly Zero Energy Buildings - nZEBs. NZEBs are characterized by reduced net-energy demand, where most of their energy needs are met by renewable energy sources, especially Photovoltaics. Consequently, in the following years, a considerable amount of intermittent solar generators will be connected in the electrical grid posing new challenges concerning the secure and reliable grid operation.

EU-MERCI stands for EU coordinated MEthods and procedures based on Real Cases for the effective implementation of policies and measures supporting energy efficiency in the Industry.
Its main aim has been to provide industrial enterprises and policy makers with best practices and tools to increase the competiveness of the EU industry by improving the efficient use of energy.

The consumer’s behaviour regarding their own energy needs will change in the future. Energy users won’t just be simple electricity, gas or heat consumers anymore but prosumers who produce energy through, for example, photovoltaic panels (a.k.a: solar panels) installed on or around their houses and using innovative equipment such as heat pumps, energy storage devices (i.e: batteries) and electric vehicles that will interact with the energy market through different pricing mechanisms such as time variable tariffs.

EIT InnoEnergy: pioneering change in sustainable energy
EIT Inno Energy was designated as a Knowledge and Innovation Community (Innovation Community) by the EIT's Governing Board on 16 December 2009 in Budapest. The priority area which this Innovation Community addresses is sustainable energy.

On 26th and 27th November 2018, the Competence Centre Building Envelope of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts once again hosted the international conference FACADE 2018 at the KKL Lucerne. This year’s event has been also the closing conference of the COST Action TU1403 “Adaptive Facades Network”, which was initiated by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts four years ago.

The webinar was moderated by Giulia Pedrocchi, from BUILD UP, who presented the portal, the project and the speakers.
