The 2012 Sector Study commissioned by the Architects’ Council of Europe shows that the profession is still suffering from the economic downturn. Although rates of decline are falling, architects have had to adapt to this on-going situation.

This scheme is now closed.   This support scheme was launched by the Malta Resources Authority (MRA) to encourage the use of roof thermal insulation material and double glazed windows or doors for domestic use.   The scheme is regulated by Government Notice 409 of 2012.

This scheme is now closed.   The support scheme for Solar Water Heaters and Solar Water Collectors (SWH / SWC) was one of the many schemes that the Malta Resources Authority (MRA) administered to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy.   The deadline for applications was the 31st of December 2012.   Incentives of the MRA were partly funded under the European Regional Development Fund – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013 and/or from national funds.

‘In 2011, for the first time, European investments in renewable energies were higher than for conventional fuels. Europe already produces over 3.8 GW from wind power alone!’ said Oettinger, adding that there would be ‘no sustainable economic growth without sustainable energy’. The Commissioner promised ‘more jobs in renewable energy, on top of the million we have already created’.
