By the end of 2015, a series of free postgraduate level training courses in Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) will begin around Europe.
These ‘Professional Energy Skills in NZEB’ courses aim to empower building professionals through the development of skills in energy efficiency and integration of renewables in the retrofit of existing housing stock.
The program is for EU engineers, architects and building manager professionals who are interested in energy efficiency applied to buildings.

The progRESsHEAT project aims at assisting policy makers at the local, regional, national and EU- level in developing integrated, effective and efficient policy strategies to achieve a rapid and widespread penetration of renewable and efficient heating and cooling systems.

In Europe, there is a clear long-term objective to decarbonise the energy system, but it is very unclear how this will be achieved in the heating and cooling sector. As a result, there is currently a lot of uncertainty among policymakers and investors in the heating and cooling sector, primarily due to a lack of knowledge about the long-term changes that will occur in the coming decades. HRE4 will enable new policies as well as prepare the ground for new investments by creating more certainty in relation to the changes that are required.

A recent analysis from BPIE on the vulnerability to gas supply disruptions concludes that Central and South East European (SEE) countries are facing a strategic choice.
International developments over the past few years have intensified the energy challenges facing Central and Southern European countries. The interruption of Russian gas supply via Ukraine, volatile global oil prices and divergent interests of State actors have renewed Europe’s concerns about its energy dependency.

An analysis of the vulnerability to gas supply disruptions concludes that Central and South East European (SEE) countries are facing a strategic choice. The latest BPIE report finds that Slovakia and Hungary face a severe risk, and Bulgaria a substantial risk to be unable to heat the national building stocks. The report presents a new Building Vulnerability Indicator and offers an alternative solution to mitigating supply risks through building renovation.

The conference aims to build and strengthen Central and Eastern Europe’s energy efficiency community. ”Casa Verde Plus” adds to the renewable energy solutions financed in the basic programme ”Casa Verde” investments in increased energy efficiency, thermal insulation, LED lighting, green roofs and ecological materials.
Both ”Casa Verde” and ”Casa Verde Plus” address residential and public buildings.
