Mayors of cities in Europe and its Mediterranean neighbourhood have committed to acting together to ensure the transition to a more energy-efficient model based on the use of renewables and the reduction of CO2 emissions
Representatives of more than sixty cities from Europe and around the Mediterranean coast gathered in Bornova, a Turkish district of Izmir, one of the cities of the CITyFiED cluster. They took part in the annual conference of Energy Cities, the European association of local authorities in energy transition.

Tepebaşı Mayor Ahmet Ataç led the celebrated delivery of four new electric buses and 22 new hybrid vehicles as part of a major boost for mobility plans for the city and region on 9 March.

Organic Rankine Cycle uses heat in water or exhaust gases to produce electricity. Often it uses waste heat. Most engineering companies implementing ORC-solutions do so for large systems at high temperatures and pressures.
The technology is now in the making to also exploit less powerful resources at lower temperatures.

On 11 February 2016, the Passive House Institute announced the certification of the first Passive House projects in Greece and Turkey. A complex of terraced houses in Greece and an environmental education centre in Turkey are the first buildings to fulfill the criteria of the Passive House Standard in these two Mediterranean countries.

It’s ‘work in progress’ at the R2CITIES demo site in Kartal, Turkey

On 28 January 22016, in Istanbul, the European Commission and Turkey held a high-level dialogue on the matter of energy. Discussions focused on integrating the Turkish energy market with the EU, energy efficiency and renewables, climate change and a follow-up on the COP21 climate negotiations in Paris, gas markets and interconnections, the development of the Southern Gas Corridor, and the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor – Turkey is a key transit country for these gas routes to the EU.
