2020 is a major milestone of the European energy & climate policy framework. The latest trends in final energy consumption have shown that the main energy efficiency target of 20% overall energy efficiency improvement by 2020 could be missed.   By the end of 2019, the EU Member States will submit their final National Energy & Climate Plans, including targets for 2030 and strategies to achieve them.

As Theresa May signs into law a commitment to bring the UK’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2050, one city in the UK is on its way to achieving this goal 22 years sooner   As one of her final acts as Prime Minister, Theresa May, announced that she will be signing into law a pledge to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This would make Britain the first member of the G7 to make such a commitment official.

The first release of the THERMOS tool has been developed within the EU H2020 project THERMOS (October 2016 – June 2020). It is a free, open-source software that offers local authorities address-level data for the optimised expansion of an existing system, the planning of an entirely new system, or assessing the performance of specific networks or non-networked solutions via direct comparison.

Deep ecological retrofit of two Victorian townhouses Chorlton, Manchester Completed: Autumn/winter 2018 Standard: Enerphit Plus -£43 per year (estimated total energy costs)   This Victorian property in the centre of Chorlton had spent many years serving as 5 apartments. During this time many original features had been lost. The proposal is to return to the original use of two semi-detached homes and reinstate the beautiful original façade.
