In 2014, the Executive Committee of the Energy in Buildings and Communities Programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA/EBC) has approved the work programme of 4 new projects that have links to various aspects of ventilation, raising the total number of running ventilation-related projects to 9, including the AIVC. It illustrates that ventilation in buildings has many different aspects. This newsletter aims to give you some information on how AIVC contributes to stimulate and foster exchanges and outputs on this topic, in particular, through the organisation of events.

The Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre (AIVC) aims to play a central role in the ventilation and infiltration community with respect to the dissemination of information, either by its conferences and workshops, or with the material available on its website. The annual conferences continue to be greatly appreciated: 96 % of a sample of 76 conference attendees rated the 34th conference as excellent or satisfactory, 91% would recommend it to others. We are working to uphold this quality for our future events as you will see in this newsletter.

We are very pleased to welcome Finland and Poland as new AIVC member countries, raising the number of member countries to 17.It is positive to see that 170 abstracts have been submitted for presentation at the AIVC conference in Athens 25-26 October 2013 which shows the growing relevance of the annual AIVC conference.Since 2011, topical sessions at the AIVC conferences, structured workshops and webinars have all been major milestones for several national and international projects.
