This training will explain how to undertake inspections of air conditioning systems with rated outputs over 12 kW in complex buildings and refer to CIBSE TM44: Inspection of Air Conditioning Systems and the Occupational Standard. Those who have completed the training and are accredited by CIBSE will be able to undertake such inspections. Those trained and subsequently accredited by CIBSE Certification will be able to carry out inspections of both complex and simple system.

This is a course designed for those wishing to gain accreditation as Energy Assessors of Public Buildings able to produce Display Energy Certificates. This type of certificate is required for buildings with a total useful floor area over 1,000 sq.m. that are occupied in whole or part by public authorities and by institutions providing public services to a large number of persons and therefore frequently visited by those persons.

In Austria, the training of qualified experts is managed mainly by the Länder authorities, universities, Chambers of Commerce and Civil Engineers as well as some private organisations.   Qualified experts are not obliged to attend recognised courses, but these are offered and have been widely used.   One such course is offered by the Austrian Centre for Productivity and Efficiency (ÖPWZ).

Training courses for Energy Auditors (Buildings) - Polish Energy Conservation Foundation (Poszanowania Energii Fundacja)   In Poland, the Energy Conservation Foundation organises training for individuals wishing to become energy auditors of residential and public buildings. The course is designed for people with a higher education in electrical, mechanical or environmental engineering, construction and energy related fields, however it is also possible for people with a secondary technical education to take part.

In Malta, those wishing to become assessors of (residential) Buildings, boilers and/or A/C installations, apart from having a relevant degree, need to undertake a period of training approved by the Malta Resources Authority.   Information about potential assessors and ongoing courses can be found in the website of the Building Regulations Office of the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs.

In Finland, boiler inspection is not mandatory. However, the Heating Energy Association organises training courses for the operation and inspection of oil-based boilers.   Once the training has been completed successfully, the participants can apply for certification as boiler inspectors.
