EuroACE, the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings, organised, with support from the C4E Forum and sponsorship from Knauf Insulation and VELUX, a conference in Slovenia. The aim is to present to an audience from across the countries of South East Europe (SEE) the main changes to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and discuss opportunities brought with this revision.

The next CA EPBD plenary meeting will be hosted in Riga. At this meeting, national delegates will discuss the EPBD implementation, and in particular some of the new elements from the amendment of the EPBD that was adopted in 2018.

The purpose of this application note is to define a generic methodology based on practical experience and existing standards to make robust, ex-ante assessments of energy conservation measures (ECM) in buildings. The focus is on the potential energy and cost savings of medium-sized ECMs with a typical incremental investment cost of between €100k and €1 million. Most of the specified methodologies can also be applied to ECMs in other fields, such as at industrial sites.

Last July 2018, the amended Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) entered into force, with a transposition deadline on 10th March 2020. Member States now have less than a year to implement new provisions on energy efficiency in buildings and building renovation. On this occasion, a workshop will be organised by EuroACE (the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings
), with the support of Knauf Insulation, VELUX, and the C4E Forum.

The Clean Energy for all Europeans policy package led to the revision of several key pieces of legislation related to the renovation of buildings. Most notable was the revision of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) that now sets a clear direction for the full decarbonisation of the European building stock by 2050. By March 2020, Member States must provide their new renovation strategy to the European Commission (new EPBD requirement), first introduced in 2012 by the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).
