Multifunctional facades of reduced thickness for fast and cost-effective retrofitting
MF-Retrofit project aimed to deal with the numerous requirements of facade panel retrofitting by developing a light-weight, durable, cost effective and high performance panel. Its layered structure allows for separate but also synergistic function regarding high thermal and acoustic insulation, excellent mechanical properties, up to standards flame retardancy and photocatalytic activity.

Within the scope of LaWin (LARGE AREA FLUIDIC WINDOWS), a Horizon 2020 project, an innovative material solution will be developed for efficient solar energy and ambient heat harvesting through an active building envelope. This uses large-area microfluid devices, which are implemented in windows and facades.
As a key feature, the LaWin devices are designed for compatibility with existing process chains in window and facade manufacture such as used in e.g. triple glazing.

The EU funded BRESAER Project (BREakthrough Solutions for Adaptable Envelopes in building Refurbishment) aims to develop and demonstrate an innovative envelope system that uses cost-effective, adaptable solutions for building refurbishment. The EU-funded ADAPTIWALL project (Multi-functional light-weight WALL panel based on ADAPTive Insulation and nanomaterials for energy efficient buildings) focuses on developing a multifunctional and climate adaptive lightweight prefab panel suitable for cost-efficient, rapid and energy efficient retrofitting of facades and eventually also suitable for roofing, inner walls or entirely new buildings.

This mini conference will take place on 16 November 2016 in Brussels at 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm and will mark the end of the EU-funded MeeFS (Multifunctional Energy Efficient Facade System for Building Retrofitting) project, which was launched in January 2012. MeeFS set out to develop an innovative, energy efficient, multifunctional façade system for retrofitting, geared towards the residential building sector across Europe.
