ZEBRA2020 focuses on tracking the market transition to nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEBs) to in order to obtain recommendations and strategies for the building industry and policy makers and to accelerate the market uptake of nZEBs.

The inaugural Energy Efficiency Market Report joins the IEA market reports for oil, gas, coal and renewable energy, highlighting the place of energy efficiency as a major fuel. The report notes that energy efficiency markets around the world drew investment of up to USD 300 billion in 2011, a level on par with global investments in renewable energy or fossil-fuel power generation.

The Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) scheme was introduced by the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) with the hope to encourage deployment of additional small-scale (less than 5MW) low-carbon electricity generation, particularly by organisations, businesses, communities and individuals that have not traditionally engaged in the electricity market.
