The EU-funded project ExcEED collects data from new and energy efficient buildings (such as energy performance, CO2 emissions, etc.), gathered into a database.   Through the data collected, the platform will foster energy awareness and will build analysis of energy performances regarding existing buildings’ data.

This Norwegian demonstration building is a two-floor building with eight small dwellings in total, located at Haugerud in the city of Oslo. Haugerud is a suburb in the east of Oslo with housing developments and houses built around the metro station. This renovation is part of a Horizon 2020 project 4RinEU.

The European Transmission System operators (TSOs) for electricity and gas play a central role in the energy system. Investments in transmission networks by TSOs are crucial for the integration of the European electricity and gas markets and the integration of a growing share of renewables. Transmission networks can also facilitate the integration of storage and Power-to-X technologies in the market. The incentives for TSOs to invest are highly dependent on the National Regulatory Framework (NRF) in Member States.

The 2030 Framework for climate and energy sets as EU-wide targets for 2030 a 40% cut in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990 level, and at least a 27% share of renewable energy consumption. For the power system, this means a share of at least 45% of electricity demand generated from renewable sources (European Commission), compared to 27.5% in 2014 (Eurostat).

The  H2020 project ExcEED (European Energy Efficient building district Database) is funded by the European Commission and aims at collecting data coming from new, modern and energy efficient buildings (such as energy performance, CO2 emissions, etc.). The project answers the need for transparency and comparability of energy performance calculations.

This tool is a simulation methodology for assessing the thermal performance of Complex Fenestration Systems (CFS). In this simulation approach, solar radiation is treated with a detailed optical model based on ray tracing and using the software Radiance. The resulting absorbed fraction of solar radiation is included in a CFD simulation, performed with COMSOL Multiphysics, capable of modelling both heat transfer and fluid flow.
