Osnovni namen smernic je prikaz možnih naborov ukrepov za energetsko prenovo, ki so v skladu z zahtevami varstva dediščinskih lastnosti stavbe in ne posegajo bistveno v njeno strukturo in zunanjo podobo. Obsegajo ukrepe za izboljšanje stavbnega ovoja, energetskih sistemov oziroma instalacij, ukrepe za povečanje rabe obnovljivih virov energije in organizacijske ukrepe. Predstavljeni so nujni postopki za uspešno načrtovanje energetske prenove ter opozorila in priporočila za izvajanje ukrepov.

On 27 February 2017, the European Energy Council met in Brussels, Belgium, bringing together EU Energy Ministers, European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, and European Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action Miguel Arias Cañete. Two main items were on the agenda: the Commission's 'Clean Energy for All Europeans' package and its second State of the Energy Union report.

  The EmBuild project is co-funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 (H2020) Programme (call EE-07-2015) and it is designed to empower the public authorities at local, regional and national level, to formulate renovation strategies for the building sector that foster deep renovation and facilitate the acceleration of the renovation.

A LIFE-line for 144 innovative projects investing for a better environment and climate action.     In November 2016, the European Commission has approved an investment package of €222.7 million from the EU budget to support Europe's transition to a more sustainable and low-carbon future. The EU funding will spur additional investments leading to a total of €398.6 million to be invested into 144 new projects in 23 Member States.

Habitat III conference that took place from 17 to 20 October 2016 in Quito, Ecuador, the European Commission has presented three commitments to meet the New Urban Agenda's global objectives. The Agenda, adopted at the conference, contains guidelines to make cities all over the world more inclusive, green, safe and prosperous.
