National University of Singapore’s (NUS) School of Design and Environment (SDE) building, the SDE4, certainly stands out for its unique structure.   SDE4 is NUS's foremost net-zero building, and the first of its kind in Singapore to be built from scratch. SDE4 gets its power through a "solar farm" on its roof which comprises over 1,200 solar photovoltaic panels and boasts a range of innovative building strategies that focus on improving the well-being of its users.

This is the first block of housing certified in Spain built in 2017 under the Passivhaus standard, and therefore has a demand for heating below 15kWh / m2a, and a heating load of 10W / m2.   This implies that a floor of 75m2 will have a heating load of only 750W, so with a hair dryer there would be enough to heat two houses.   To achieve this the following principles have been applied:

Annex 62 “Ventilative cooling” of the IEA Technology Collaboration Programme “Energy in Buildings and Communities” was an international research project running from 2014 to 2018.   The research focus of the annex was on the development of design methods and compliance tools related to predicting, evaluating and eliminating/minimizing the cooling need and the risk of overheating in buildings as well as on the development of new attractive energy efficient ventilative cooling solutions.

The CoNZEBs team has identified potential technical solution sets that can reduce cost in the construction process for NZEBs.   The scientific partners assessed the costs related to the construction and operation phase according to the specific conditions applying in the participant countries, i.e. Denmark, Germany, Italy and Slovenia.

Couvrant une surface de 1’348 m² au sol, le bâtiment détermine un volume simple, sur un seul niveau, marqué par la marquise d’entrée affirmant l’accueil des clients.   Le bâtiment est constitué d’une ossature en bois reposant sur une base en béton. Les lames en pin du nord poncées et traitées avec un saturateur couleur noyer amènent de la chaleur à cette façade en bois moderne.
