In commending the cities’ outstanding efforts, he underlined how they have “encouraged others to go down the same path towards sustainability” and how they are moving towards being ‘Smart Cities’.

The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission is now in a process of analysing all the SEAPs submitted by the Covenant signatories so far. The process has been slightly delayed in order to put in place a well developed and high quality assessment scheme. The assessment will be done in two steps: first the eligibility of the SEAP is checked based on key criteria set within the Covenant of Mayors; and second the content of the SEAP is assessed followed by a feedback report to the signatory.

This brochure was issued by the Energy Efficiency Industrial Forum (EEIF). EEIF is composed of European associations representing industries active in the field of energy efficiency such as insulation manufacturers, lamp companies, cogeneration companies, flat glass manufacturers, etc. Together, EEIF members share the belief that Europe is not on track to reach its 20% energy saving target by the year 2020 and call for effective and innovative policies for energy efficiency in Europe.

Wärmebrücken können an unterschiedlichen Stellen der Gebäudehülle auftreten und dort erhöhte Wärmeströme, niedrigere Innentemperaturen, Feuchte und Schimmel probleme sowie größere Transmissionswärmeverluste verursachen. Die Transmissionswärmeverluste führen zu höheren Heiz- und Kühlenergiebedarfswerten und werden u.a. besonders wichtig bei sogenannten Hocheffizienz- oder Niedrigstenergiegebäuden. Das EU Projekt ASIEPI hat nationale Informationen zu Wärmebrücken aus bis zu 17 EU-Mitgliedsstaaten plus Norwegen gesammelt und analysiert.

Based on DECC’s 2050 Pathways project, the report looks at the UK’s energy policies from the perspective of those people who will have to live with those decisions for their entire adult lives. The report was drafted by young people aged between 16 and 25 who visited power stations, nuclear plants and projects promoting renewable energy sources to investigate the issues at first hand and met with experts, industry, pressure groups and innovators, to look at how we keep the lights on in 2050 while reducing carbon emissions.
