Energy sources, district heating / cooling, cogeneration

The E2VENT system that we will develop is an external thermal refurbishment solution with external cladding and air cavity (fig.1).   The distinctive feature of this system is the Smart Modular Heat Recovery Unit allowing us to recover energy from the extracted air while performing the air renewal using double flux heat exchanger in the air cavity (fig.2).

    With more than 80% of the heat delivered to buildings coming from obsolete, inefficient and polluting boilers, decarbonising this sector is crucial. A steep increase in the current 20% share of renewables in heating and cooling is required, together with improving the efficiencies of our heating and cooling systems, in order to achieve the Paris Agreement goals.

Concept   Around 461 million ton/year of C&DW are generated in EU28. Recent studies on the characterization of C&DW samples at European level revealed a predominant fraction of concrete (52% average). Over the last years, novel technology has been developed aiming to guarantee high quality recycled concrete aggregates for use in new concrete, thereby closing the concrete loop.

This Norwegian demonstration building is a two-floor building with eight small dwellings in total, located at Haugerud in the city of Oslo. Haugerud is a suburb in the east of Oslo with housing developments and houses built around the metro station. This renovation is part of a Horizon 2020 project 4RinEU.

Deep ecological retrofit of two Victorian townhouses Chorlton, Manchester Completed: Autumn/winter 2018 Standard: Enerphit Plus -£43 per year (estimated total energy costs)   This Victorian property in the centre of Chorlton had spent many years serving as 5 apartments. During this time many original features had been lost. The proposal is to return to the original use of two semi-detached homes and reinstate the beautiful original façade.
