History   BASE was founded in 2001 as the Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy. Since our beginning, we have worked on projects to improve the flow of investment towards sustainable energy and meet the challenge of climate change.   BASE has been an initiator of sustainability and investment organisations including The Gold Standard, Global Infrastructure Basel, greenTEK ventures, SEFI and the SEF Alliance.   Concept and Objectives

Concept   PACE, which stands for “Pathway to a Competitive European Fuel Cell micro-Cogeneration market”, is a flagship EU and industry funded project that will deploy more than 2,800 of the next generation Fuel Cell micro-Cogeneration units in 10 European countries by 2021.   The project brings together the five leading European suppliers (BDR Thermea, Bosch, SOLIDpower, Sunfire and Viessmann), and will focus on residential homes and small enterprises.

Concept and Objectives   The main goal of QUEST is to promote investments in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency by identifying and empirically risk-grading factors that influence performance.   QUEST will develop a simple toolkit to evaluate these investments. It may be easily applied to all types of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency investments and covers project design-construction-operation risks.

With the EU planning aimed at nearly zero energy target for new buildings by 2020, the construction sector is confronted with the urgent need to upskills its workforce.   This need implies both meeting the targets and learning how to use innovative approaches and technology solutions to keep high quality of construction and increase the building energy efficiency.

During the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2019, the session co-organised by DecarbHeat and FEDARENE, “The Green Revolution Starts at Home” took place in order to presents the heating and cooling sector in Europe and the resources available for local, regional and national authorities.    Various innovative tools and projects such as RELaTED, PLANHEAT and Hotmaps are being developed to assist cities and regions for decarbonizing heating and cooling.
