The Commission is in the process of updating some of the content on this website in light of the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. If the site contains content that does not yet reflect the withdrawal of the United Kingdom, it is unintentional and will be addressed.

These three sister initiatives, funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, will present their knowledge acquired to date in terms of energy efficiency. The 4th sister project INNOVEAS will also participate as attendee. In the workshop, to be carried out online, participants will learn more about the innovative capacity building training approach developed by these projects, while they will be enabled to provide their feedback, sharing needs, and points of view.

New report from BPIE – the Buildings Performance Institute Europe - highlights that more than half of EU Member States are six months late to submit their national Long-Term Renovation Strategies (LTRS), a key element of Europe’s strategy to decarbonise the building stock. Of those submitted only one is fully compliant with EU legislation.

Buildings do not consume energy, people do. Managed by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (EASME), these projects have helped consumers understand their energy use at their homes or their work places, and have motivated them to engage in energy-saving behaviour. It is possible to change the way energy is perceived and used by consumers with low-cost and cost-effective ICT solutions, and basic personal choices can translate in significant energy and economic savings.

Local energy efficiency and sustainability policies are mostly defined by the EU legal framework, how it is interpreted by cities and regions and how they will turn it into regional or local measures. Cities and regions across Europe are key in leading and achieving EU climate targets. The result is that more often than not, they will implement more ambitious measures than they are required to.

Are architects ready for the digitalisation? DigiPLACE - Building up a digital framework for the AEC sector DigiPLACE is a EU-funded project running from September 2019 until May 2021. The project consortium is developing a feasibility study for the development of a European Industrial Digital Construction Platform in order to modernise the European Construction industry and ensure its global competitiveness in the 21st century.
