As a journalist working for the publication Nature, I am also interested in carbon emissions reductions targets for existing building stock given that a large proportion of emissions come from buildings. Examples of national or other targets are welcome by Christmas/end December. Should there be specific targets and if they are not in place, what is preventing this?

As a journalist working for the publication Nature, I'm interested in establishing the main data gaps on the energy performance of non-domestic buildings in Europe. Broadly, what national data should be available for policy-makers to benchmark and improve energy performance (reduce energy use) and what are the reasons why it is not available? Replies welcome as soon as possible before Christmas/end December.

I would be interested in knowing the state of knowledge , dissemination, actuation of its objectives and scope. In particular whether the calculation of the global cost in terms of net present value for each reference building is underway. As far as Italy is concerned, the regulation is still generally ignored and I believe that its adoption will face severe hindrances, not only at the administrative and political level…..

Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) have a great potential to implement energy efficiency measures. They also contribute to the development of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), in particular of solar thermal or biomass. Currently in Spain, the biomass market is growing very fast. Public administrations are installing biomass boilers in public buildings in cooperation with ESCOs, hence diverting from natural gas and diesel due to their high prices.
