The European Rental Association, the voice of the European equipment rental industry, has today launched the ERA Equipment CO2 Calculator, an independent and free-to-use online tool to enable equipment stakeholders to make more sustainable choices when using construction equipment.   The Calculator determines the carbon footprint of construction equipment over its entire lifecycle and is applicable to all types of equipment, from mini excavators and wheel loaders to generators, boom lifts and access platforms.

42 projects will receive €70M of funding to support the clean energy transition under the final H2020 Energy Efficiency Call.   The final H2020 Energy Efficiency Call for proposals closed last September and a record–number of 352 project proposals were submitted in the 10 different topics targeting the buildings, finance, consumer and public authorities sectors.

Concept:   The computer-controlled sequential layering of materials to create three-dimensional shapes, otherwise known as 3D printing, was first developed in the 1980s. It is now used in a wide range of applications – from aerospace engineering to dental applications.   3D printing systems have also been developed for the construction industry but there are still many challenges and limitations to overcome such as scalability and working at heights.
