The Horizon 2020 Green Deal Call, with the aim to support research and innovation projects on the European Green Deal, has closed. Published last September, the call is structured in eight thematic areas reflecting the key work streams of the European Green Deal and two horizontal areas on strengthening knowledge and empowering citizens. We received 115 proposals for the Call Topic 4: Building and Renovating in an Energy and Resource Efficient Way.

For one last time, under the Energy challenge of the Horizon 2020 programme, proposers were invited to submit their ideas to accelerate the market-uptake of energy efficiency solutions across Europe. 10 topics with a total budget of €64m were open in the areas of buildings, innovative financing, consumers, services, public authorities and policy support. An impressive number of proposals were received, amounting to 759M €.

The Commission has launched the first call for proposals under the Innovation Fund, one of the world's largest programmes for the demonstration of innovative low-carbon technologies, financed by revenues from the auction of emission allowances from the EU's Emissions Trading System. The Innovation Fund will finance breakthrough technologies for renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage, and carbon capture, use and storage.

It is a peer-learning programme that will allow over 100 local and regional policy makers to exchange knowledge on cultural heritage, with a focus on participatory governance, adaptive reuse and quality of interventions.
