Electricity consumption in the EU28 declined by approximately 1% year-on-year in Q4 2019, dragged down by stagnating industrial activity and a very mild start of the heating season. Of the major economies, power consumption increased in the UK (+1.2%) and the Netherlands (+1.3%), while falls were registered in Germany (-2.0%), Poland (-2.0%), Italy (-1.7%), Spain (-0.8%) and France (-0.8%).

The growth of output by privileged power producers is the main barometer of the development of renewables in Serbia. Total electricity generation in 2019 was 36,000 GWh, matched by consumption.
It could be said that the rise came as a result of the Decree on incentives for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources and high-efficiency heat and power cogeneration under which all privileged power producers have been receiving feed-in tariffs.

This competition, and the Compete4SECAP project team who organised and facilitated it, include partners based in Italy, France, Germany and Spain – some of countries that are worst-affected (so far) by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Data is fundamental to understand how much a building consumes, how much it is efficient and whether thermal comfort is adequate. However, how should this data be evaluated? Is it still possible to increase energy efficiency of buildings? A solution would be to make a comparison with similar contexts: for example, how much does a building consume on average under specific climatic conditions? How much energy can it obtain from its installed renewable energy sources?

A recent study carried out by an international group of building scientists showed that Estonia is among the countries with the most energy efficient buildings in Europe.
Among the analysis of NZEB energy performance of buildings in four countries (Estonia, Norway, Finland and Sweden), Estonia has shown to have the most energy efficient nearly zero energy buildings.
