As part of its environmental efforts, Wiener Linien launched a unique pilot project: The first-time installation of special photovoltaic films, on the roof of the underground station in the Ottakring district. The power generated will be used on-site to operate lighting, escalators and elevators. EEPLIANT 3 stands for “Energy Efficiency compliant products” and it is a follow up of a series of older projects, EEPLIANT 1 and EEPLIANT 2, started in 2015. It focuses on the benefits of the energy efficiency regulation and on checking the level of compliance of energy products on the market. The innovative aspect of the project consists in dealing with both vertical and horizontal components of market surveillance of energy efficiency.
