A POsitive Energy CITY Transformation Framework Objective POCITYF is a smart city-oriented project, whose major goal is to deliver a set of Positive Energy Blocks – a limited geographic area whose average local renewable generation is greater than its consumption – in the Lighthouse cities of Evora (PT) and Alkmaar (NL) and their Fellow cities Granada (ES), Bari (ΙΤ), Celje (SI), Ujpest (HU), Ioannina (GR) and Hvidovre (DK).

New Circular Economy Business Model for More Sustainable Urban Construction The EU-28 total waste generation in 2014 was 2598M tones, the highest since 2004, 33.5% of which was from the construction sector, being also one of the larger consumers of inorganic raw materials. Construction activities are mainly localized in urban areas where by 2050 about 86% of the developed world is expected to live.

The first webinar has been recorded on May 16th, 2019 and it was followed by more than 100 people. The webinar presented the preliminary results of the GEOENVI project, which is working since November 2018. The GEOENVI project aims at answering environmental concerns in terms of both impacts and risks, by first setting an adapted methodology for assessing environment impacts to the project developers, and by assessing the environmental impacts and risks of geothermal projects operational or in development in Europe. The project will propose recommendations on harmonised European environmental regulations to the decision-makers and elaborate simplified LCA models to assess environmental impacts.

PROtect traditional built HERITAGE Skills – PRO-Heritage According to the climate change and energy policy of the EU, each member state needed to identify and develop a series of energy efficient goals and regulations, of which buildings are a key element, in order to reach the set goals. However, Europe has numerous historic buildings, which need permanent maintenance and refurbishment in order to fulfil the requirements of sustainability and use.

Improving the energy efficiency of heritage buildings is one of the priorities of the European Commission. Historical buildings play an important role for their cultural value and social identity within the vast real estate heritage. Only by carefully planning the energy refurbishment of these buildings is it possible to improve users’ comfort while preserving the architectural features for which they are protected.
