The Commission is in the process of updating some of the content on this website in light of the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. If the site contains content that does not yet reflect the withdrawal of the United Kingdom, it is unintentional and will be addressed.

Here is a brief summary of what some of the projects presented:Pebble Project:   Visitors were able to interact with a scale-model of a neighbourhood (buildings and homes) equipped with real sensors and actuators, an interactive game guided visitors to make control decisions in order to save energy.SMARTCODE Project:  There was a house represented by its real devices (e.g. a washing machine and a refrigerator) connected via LED stripes to illustrate the flow of energy.

This community deals with the development of pan-European software for building energy performance linked to the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD). Reliable calculation tools are needed to predict with a reasonable accuracy the performances of buildings to both satisfy minimum performance requirements and to provide energy rating certificate. Despite of the availability of European Standards, developed to harmonize national transposition, mainly national software tools are used to comply with national transpositions of the EPBD.
