Eight projects involving 27 districts belonging to 25 cities from 13 different countries have joined forces for greater leverage in sharing contents and promoting energy efficient renovation for cities and communities leading to large-scale replicability of sound energy efficiency solutions.

The Nearly Zero Energy Neighbourhoods (ZenN) project, funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union, focuses on zero energy building renovation processes through the implementation and study of five nearly zero energy renovation demonstration projects on a neighborhood scale. These projects are located in a number of cities in northern, central and southern Europe. Furthermore, the ZenN project encompasses the development of a series of research and dissemination actions associated with these demonstration projects.

The start of 2015 has seen CITyFiED sign up to a group of fellow Smart City projects under the name MySmartCityDistrict (MSCD). Three other projects all aimed at moving us towards a sustainable urban future make up the group that was set up during the course of last year. These fellow projects are EU-GUGLE, R2CITIES, and ZenN.

Three projects involving 15 municipalities have decided to join forces for greater leverage in sharing and promoting energy efficient renovation solutions for cities and communities EU-wide. The projects EU-GUGLE, R2CITIES and ZenN, have now set out a roadmap for clustering a number of their activities to come. These include joint dissemination such as access to project workshops for members of the sister projects, web cross-linking, joint social media and events, exchange of best practices.
