The tool allows users to view statistical data related to the energy performance of residential buildings. The tool shows the characteristics of the current state of the housing stock for 20 countries and the determined modernisation trends based on monitoring pilot actions of the energy refurbishment progress for 6 countries resulting from the EPISCOPE project. It allows comparing countries and provides policy information, such as the definitions for Nearly-Zero Energy Buildings.
The tool displays detailed information on several aspects:
- Building stock characteristics
For each country the actual state of the building stock is mainly based on the official statistics provided by EPISCOPE and TABULA partners. Only when deemed necessary, statistics have been harmonised through the definition of aggregated categories (i.e. for the heating technologies) or the application of common factors (i.e. for the estimation of total floor area) in order to allow the comparison between the different countries.
- Modernisation trends
The methodological approach and the list of indicators to track the energy refurbishment progress of the housing stock have been elaborated within the EPISCOPE project [IWU 2015]. The Energy Performance Indicators (EPI) tables that include: building insulation levels, building insulation improvements and modernisation trends for technical systems, were the basis for the new developments within the Data Hub. The results (2013 status) for six countries have been integrated into the EPISCOPE tool.
- NZEB definition
A new indicator on Nearly Zero-Energy Building (NZEB) definitions for new and existing buildings has been integrated into the structure of the Data Hub and EPISCOPE tool. It was based on the methodology developed for the BPIE factsheet in cooperation with the EPISCOPE project.
