Australia sets 20 % renewable target for 2020

In August 2009 Australia's government and opposition have agreed on a key climate change bill. The Renewable Energy Target Bill proposes that 20 % of the country's electrical energy consumption will be provided by renewable energy by 2020. Currently the level of renewable energy is 8 %. The targeted 20 % is approximately the same amount of energy as the current electrical energy use of Australian households.
