Only 30 % of 2007–2013 ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) funding has been used up in Poland to date – This was one of the subjects of discussion at the forth edition of the international conference series focused on energy efficiency and energy security in cities as well as cities’ responsibilities within the European climate and energy package.
The conference was supported by European Parliament’s URBAN intergroup and hosted by the group’s president Jan Olbryct in cooperation with the Polish the Europe is simple” association, the City of Katowice and the Association of Polish Cities. As Intergroup president, Olbrycht is playing an active role in encouraging increased take up of the potential 4 % of European regional Development Funding which can be used by European regions for energy efficiency in housing.

CECODHAS-Housing Europe was invited to this year’s conference to present the potential energy savings to be made in Europe’s existing housing stock and the importance of commitment of cities in meeting this potential.
