EU Climate Chief Frans Timmermans believes that the 45% renewable targets by 2030 is ambitious but possible. EU countries and the European Parliament are currently discussing about a new law to boost green energy production, including this target. The target has been proposed higher than before due to the geopolitical situation in Europe and thus to make energy more secure.

 

This target refers to the production of electricity, heat and transport, and we are still lacking scalable technologies specifically about heat.
