The Covenant of Mayors Office is co-organizing two events during the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) taking place between 18 and 22 June in Brussels. Every year hundreds of organisations and individuals participate in EUSEW by hosting Energy Day events and activities that promote energy efficiency and renewable energy sources across Europe.

On 20 June the Covenant of Mayors Office is co-organizing a high-level policy conference on Sustainable energy investments in cities and regions. The session will address the Covenant of Mayors initiative as a political instrument for sustainable energy actions and highlight examples of successfully implemented energy action plans. High-level representatives from the European Commission and the Committee of Regions will present EU policy developments in the fields of sustainable energy and regional development. EU investment, financing and funding instruments will be presented as well as the recently launched Smart Cities and Communities initiative.

On 22 June a session entitled Covenant signatories meet business to convert plans into actions is co-organized by the Covenant of Mayors Office and the European Economic and Social Committee. The session aims at showcasing the private sector’s successful partnerships with European cities and regions and highlighting the role of such partners in the development of sustainable energy action plans. High-level representatives from the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee, city officials and the private sector will take part in the debate.

Both sessions are open to energy actors from local and regional authorities, energy agencies, policy makers, regional representatives, energy consultants and anyone interested in energy efficiency and renewable energy actions in local communities. Registration is open until 11 June through the EUSEW website.

A Covenant of Mayors stand will be exhibited from 19 to 21 June on the first floor of Charlemagne building. Information on how to join the Covenant of Mayors initiative and successful projects will be on display for all those interested.
