Managers of big churches and monumental buildings are always struggling with this question: how would you keep a church warm on the inside in a sustainable way? Nudge is helping out by organising Holy Warming. Holy Warming is an event and contest, which goal is to find a sustainable solution for the heating problem in churches. The event started on the 7th of April in the second biggest cathedral in the Netherlands, the St. Bavo Cathedral in Haarlem.
The competition

Renovation of the St. Bavo Cathedral started recently. Right now, it takes three days to bring the temperature in the main area of the Cathedral to 12 degrees Celsius. This should be possible to improve!

Everyone is welcome to apply with an innovative, sustainable solution for the heating system of the church. The kick-off of the competition was on the 7th of April in the St. Bavo. The winning solution will be selected by the jury on June, 23 during the NudgeLive event.

Your submission must meet at least the following criteria:

  • Innovative idea
  • Overview of needed investments
  • Costs of exploitation
  • Rough estimate of CO2 emissions
