Making the EU energy labelling system work for heaters: Future review needed to encourage energy upgrades for all!

Eurofuel is and has always been very much supportive of the adoption of energy labelling rules for heaters, but calls for a future review to encourage energy upgrades for all. For reasons of geographical location (e.g. rural or mountainous areas outside the grid networks) or budget constraints, many citizens are simply not in a position to switch energy sources. Meanwhile, 40% energy savings could be achieved by modernising their existing heating appliances, a "low hanging fruit" to achieve the EU energy saving goals. However, the artificially low ranking of highly efficient oil systems according to the new energy labelling measures will most likely discourage consumers to upgrade their systems. A revision will be needed.
