PAREER: Nuevo Programa de Ayudas para la Rehabilitación Energética de Edificios existentes del sector Residencial (uso vivienda y hotelero) is a new program put into place by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and launched by the IDAE (IDAE - el Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía).

This program has been established in order to advance whole building improvements which promote energy efficiency and renewable energy use in existing buildings in the residential sector and to comply with Article 4 of Directive 2012/27/UE on Energy Efficiency (EED).  This specific program includes financial support worth up to 125 million euros.

The retrofitting improvements/typologies can include the following:

  • more efficient building envelope
  • energy efficiency of HVAC systems and lighting
  • replace existing conventional energy with biomass energy in HVAC systems
  • replace existing conventional energy with geothermal energy in HVAC systems

The object of the retrofitting should be to improve the total energy performance certification of the building by obtaining a better class of energy efficiency (letter A,B, C, etc...) in the carbon dioxide emissions (kg CO2/m2 per year) in respect to the original certification.

This improvement of the energy performance certification can be acheived by one or more of the above listed retrofit typologies.
