The Japanese contractor Shimizu Corporation inaugurated on 1st August 2012 its new headquarters building in Tokyo, announced as emitting the lowest CO2 level in the world (38 kg/m2.year). A new air conditioning system reduces CO2 emissions thanks to cold water radiant ceilings. Motion sensors and LEDs reduce the amount of electricity for lighting, and automatically adjusting solar shading systems have been installed at windows. Photovoltaic panels can produce up to 84 000 kWh per year.
