Case study with integration of BIPV: Akademie Mont-Cenis (Herne, Germany)

Share this Post:

A more than 12,000 m² glass envelope covers all of the buildings in this further training academy. PV systems were integrated into the roof surfaces and the south-west surfaces of the glass envelope on the sides. The almost 3200 PV modules have a varying solar cell packing density.

It is a training academy of the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia. The Academy is surrounded by a glass climate envelope, which ensures a Mediterranean climate, which is on average 5 degrees C warmer than the outside temperature. In the building there is a district library, a citizen hall, a cafe, offices of the city administration and a training academy of the region North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

In addition to energy yield, they distribute light and shade in an optimal manner so that there was no need for a complex air-conditioning system (ABAKUS-SOLAR).

Key data:

  • installed area: 10.000 m²
  • installed power: 1.000 kWp
  • ield of energy: ca. 660.000 kWh/a
